our programs
At Cancer Support Community Atlanta we are dedicated to enriching the lives of the men and women who face cancer every day. There truly is something for everyone - support groups, cooking demonstrations, educational seminars, gentle exercise classes and above all, new friendships.
All of our programs are evidence-based, led by licensed and certified professionals, and always free of charge. Each provides an opportunity for cancer survivors to meet others who can support and encourage them along the way.
Please note, programs are offered a variety of ways—some are in person, others are virtual, and some are hybrid (a mix of live and virtual). We also have a full library of recorded programs you can view at your convenience. Please see icons on the calendar to identify how each program is offered.
NEWLY DIAGNOSED?
We are here for you during this time and have created programs designed to help prepare you as you move ahead. Please click here for our Newly Diagnosed Flyer. These programs offer vital information as you start any type of treatment and are offered both in person at our facility and virtually.
Oncology Nutrition 101: Regardless of the type of treatment you are beginning, basic questions about nutrition and eating may be overwhelming. Our Oncology Nutrition 101 class is led by one of Northside Hospital Cancer Institute’s oncology registered dieticians and covers important topics and follows with an in-depth Q&A session. These classes are small and interactive, empowering you with what you need to move ahead. Click here to register for this month’s class.
Virtual Introduction to Breathing Techniques: This time can be one of great anxiety as you maneuver the new information and schedules that are being presented to you. There are countless studies that prove that simple breathing techniques can be very helpful in reducing stress and helping regain focus in stressful situations. This class will teach you valuable tools that can truly change the way you face upcoming treatments and physician appointments. Support Groups: Support Groups allow you to share valuable information while connecting with others who understand. Many of our support groups are diagnosis specific and are offered either weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Click here to learn more.
